چکیده
We present the design, manufacturing, and testing of a 37-element array corrugated feedhorns for Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) measurements between $140$ $170$ GHz. The was designed to be coupled Kinetic Inductance Detector arrays, either directly (for total power measurements) or through an orthomode transducer polarization measurements). manufactured in platelets by chemically etching aluminum plates $0.3$ mm $0.4$ thickness. process is fast, low-cost, scalable, yields high-performance antennas compared other techniques same frequency range. Room temperature electromagnetic show excellent repeatability with average cross level about $-20$ dB, return loss $-25$ first sidelobes below dB far $-35$ dB. Our results qualify this as valid candidate state-of-the-art CMB experiments, where large detector arrays high sensitivity purity are paramount importance quest discovery $B$-modes.

Optimizing Feedhorn-Coupled TES Polarimeters for Balloon and Space-Based CMB Observations
Maximizing the sensitivity of balloon-based and space-based observations of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) requires detectors with substantially lower saturation power and background noise than ground-based observations, because of reduced atmospheric loading and lower photon noise. We have fabricated and tested prototype transition-edge sensor (TES) bolometers that have architecture ide...
متن کاملChemically etched ultrahigh-Q wedge-resonator on a silicon chip
Ultrahigh-Q optical resonators are being studied across a wide range of fields, including quantum information, nonlinear optics, cavity optomechanics and telecommunications1–7. Here, we demonstrate a new resonator with a record Q-factor of 875 million for on-chip devices. The fabrication of our device avoids the requirement for a specialized processing step, which in microtoroid resonators8 has...
متن کاملMapping speed for an array of corrugated horns.
I address the choice of horn diameter for millimeter-wave array receivers with corrugated horns. For maximum point-source mapping speed, in both total power and polarization with typical receiver noise contributions and a close-packed horn array that fills the field of view, the optimum horn diameter is 1.6-1.7Flambda, where F is the focal ratio. A +/-25% change in horn diameter gives <10% degr...
متن کاملCmb Observations Using the Ska
We examine the prospects for observations of CMB anisotropy with the SKA; we discuss the advantages of interferometric SKA imaging, observing strategies, calibration issues and the achievable sensitivity. Although the SKA will probably operate at cm wavelengths, where discrete source confusion dominates the CMB anisotropy, its extreme sensitivity to point sources will make it possible to subtra...
متن کاملA Multi-Band Array For The Burbs
In the winter of 2002, I relocated my family from our small ranch in the southeast corner of Wyoming to the south Denver suburbs. For my hobby, it was a difficult relocation as I had to give up my antenna farm made of numerous towers, antennas and, in particular, my 4 square arrays for 40 and 80 meters. These arrays were used primarily for my own science studies regarding short and long path DX...
